PLANS to offer free parking in Wrexham have been announced.

Wrexham Council will be submitting proposals to the Executive Board to offer free parking in most of their town centre car parks.

The offer consists of providing free parking after 2pm, seven days a week for visitors, for a period of 12 months - which if given the go-ahead will commence in early April.

Cllr Mark Pritchard, leader of the council, said: "I am really pleased to bring these proposals to offer free parking after 2pm to members.

"It is aimed directly at supporting town centre traders and I hope that, if approved, people in Wrexham will take full advantage of the offer and visit the town centre.

"There’s lots on offer with some incredible independent retailers offering excellent products."

The proposals do not include Tŷ Pawb but do include the council’s car parks at Waterworld, Wrexham Library, St George’s Crescent, Crescent Road, St Giles, Market Street.
