A SLIMMING World consultant in Holywell has given huge praise to her members that have lost the equivalent weight nine adult reindeer – enough to pull Santa’s sleigh!

The Leader has previously reported that Elen Dera, from Flint, lost close to six stone in the last year and went on to launch a group of her own in Holywell this March.

The 33-year-old dropped five dress sizes as a member of Slimming World and was inspired to help others be more confident about their bodies and feel better physically and emotionally.

She previously said: “Losing weight has made such a big difference to my life and the Slimming World approach meant I could still enjoy the food I love.

“Not being able to keep up with my children was just one factor that encouraged me to join up to Slimming World, but my weight also had an impact on my mental health, and I had had enough and decided to actually do something about it. I wholeheartedly recommend the plan as a way to get in shape and still enjoy the food you are eating.”

As a busy parent, Elen said that she would resort to convenience meals and takeaway teas as her first choice. Now, she has optimised her diet and built in gym sessions as well as going out for runs to achieve her target.

Reflecting on the last nine months, the mum-of-three has been thrilled to encourage others achieve their health goals – with her members shedding a combined 220 stone in weight which is the equivalent weight nine adult reindeer – enough to pull Santa’s sleigh – that weigh in between 159 and 182kg each!

She told the Leader how 27 of her members have lost at least ten per cent of their body weight giving them a healthier lifestyle and reducing their risk of cancer, diabetes, heart problems and many more health conditions. She has also supported 18 people to achieve – and even surpass – their dream weight loss target.

Elen currently holds sessions at Holywell Youth and Community Centre (near to Holywell Leisure Centre) at 5pm and 7pm.

She hopes to inspire more success in the New Year by adding a second group meeting to her schedule, that launches on Saturday, January 4, at 8am and 10am.
