KIND-HEARTED staff of a Deeside gym raised over £600 for families in a temporary supported living facility.

Connah’s Quay-based JS-PT Health Studio has been fundraising to ensure families at Plas Bellin Hall in Oakenholt do not miss out on a traditional Christmas dinner.

To do this, the gym promoted fun fitness and nutrition to help local people get healthier - with a percentage of the proceeds going to the fundraising challenge.

And in just three weeks, the gym has raised over £600 - enough to feed all of Plas Bellin's 22 families.

Using the money raised, gym owner Jack Sullivan and his team bought and donated all the traditional delicacies of the Christmas dinner - as well as puddings, sweets, snacks, Christmas crackers and £150 in cash.

Alyn and Deeside assembly member Jack Sergeant was also on hand to help the team drop off the items at the event on Thursday. And Simon Belli from RSV Automotive in Deeside drove the team and items to Plas Bellin on the day.

Plas Bellin Hall offers temporary supported accommodation for up to 23 families. Plas Bellin is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It is owned by Local Solutions - a charity supporting individuals, families and communities with a primary focus on those experiencing disadvantage, exclusion and vulnerability.

Angela Harrison, operational manager at Plas Bellin Hall, said: "Local Solutions is overwhelmed at the kind donation of Christmas food and money that was donated by Jack Sullivan from JS PT Health studios based in Connah’s Quay.

"This generous donation will ensure that all families and single females living in our projects will have a wonderful festive dinner, complete with all of the trimmings. This can be a difficult time of year for some, so we are extremely grateful and on behalf of Local Solutions and the families we would like to say thank you."

Jack Sullivan said: "Our vision is based around what we have just done - to help people and give them a chance to create positive change in their lives.

"It was a big task but something we have got done and listening to the staff, it’s really made it worth while - 80 people fed at Christmas!

"People are amazing, coming to the studio, donating, helping, it’s been such a community effort and made it feel so Christmassy."
