DELYN’S new Conservative MP has responded to the worst A&E waiting times on record.

Waiting times were published by StatsWales and figures showed that just under three quarters (72.2 per cent) of patients were seen within four hours across the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Commenting, Rob Roberts MP for Delyn, said: “These are shocking figures that are leaving the people of Delyn without adequate emergency care. The Conservative Government in Westminster is making a huge amount of additional funding available for the NHS in Wales – there can be no excuse for this situation continuing.

“I will be arranging a meeting with the health board as soon as possible to see what can be done to make sure local people get the service they deserve and that the hard-working Betsi staff are properly supported. I will also be speaking to colleagues from the Department for Health and Social Care and the Wales Office to see what options are available despite the NHS being a devolved matter in Wales.”

In the Queen’s Speech, the Conservative UK Government confirmed that the additional £33.9 billion which is being invested in NHS England by 2023-24 would be enshrined in law.

This will result in an extra £1.9 billion which could be invested in the Welsh NHS.
