CLWYD South AM Ken Skates has been cleared of any impropriety over the funding of a bus service in his constituency

It was alleged that Mr Skates had intervened to secure funds for a bus service in the Clwyd South area – in breach of the Ministerial Code.

During the First Minister’s Questions held at the Senedd, Rhun ap Iorwerth AM asked First Minister Mark Drakeford what the conclusions of his inquiry were.

The Leader reported on December 11 that Mr Skates has referred himself to the First Minister Mark Drakeford to inquire into the suggestion that he has broken the ministerial code.

In response, Mr Drakeford said: “I will conclude my investigation in the normal way and the member would be better off waiting to see the results of that".

In a social media post today, December 19, the transport minister said: “Pleased to confirm I've been cleared of any impropriety over the funding of the No 5 bus service. It’s never pleasant being the subject of such inquiries, but I felt it was only right to refer myself for investigation as soon as questions were asked.”
