STUDENTS at St Christopher's Millennium Eco Centre in Wrexham have donated essential items to the town's homeless this winter.

The students, aged 16 to 19, along with adult service users aged up to 80, decided to help rough sleepers after carrying out "eye-opening" research and projects on homelessness in the USA and the UK.

Centre manager Jason Orme said: "We pick a good cause every year as part of our giving. Last year it was the Samaritans. This year the students wanted to help the homeless they had seen in their own town.

"It is an issue that is becoming much more apparent and the students wanted to do something."

The staff, carers and students filled 15 boxes filled with items, including gloves, coats, scarves, hand warmers, and deoderant, to donate to the homeless of Wrexham.

Along with the clothes and essential items, the boxes contained a Christmas message from the students.

The Millennium Eco Centre is a specialist area of the St. Christopher's School that works inclusively with adults and young people with additional learning needs.
