LOCAL families in need of food supplies this Christmas will be given a helping hand thanks to an appeal organised by a Holywell primary school.
As part of Ysgol Maes Y Felin’s ‘Kindness at Christmas’ focus this half term, hundreds of donated food items and little luxuries collected by the school have been delivered to the Flintshire Foodbank to help families in and around Holywell over Christmas.
Linked to elections and the current climate, on Christmas jumper day the pupils overwhelmingly voted to support the food bank. Letters to parents and posters were quickly organised and donations soon started to pour in.
Tamsin Nellist, one of the teachers who helped organise the appeal, said: “We have been absolutely amazed at the community response to such a vital cause, there were literally hundreds of different food items donated.
“The generosity of our families and staff is incredible, they have shown true Maes y Felin spirit and it’s great to know that so many families will benefit, especially at this festive time of year. We would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support.”
