A PAIR of Wrexham slimmers found health, happiness and love together as they lost 14 stone between them.

Stewart Williams joined his local Slimming World group in August 2018 after returning from a holiday and needing an extended seat belt on the plane. He decided at that point that enough was enough and he needed to lose weight.

Stewart, from Hightown, joined the group and has achieved an impressive 10 and a half stone loss in 18 months.

The 43-year-old told the Leader how he now feels fantastic, has got more energy, sleeps better and is no longer out of breath walking up the stairs after dropping from a triple XL to a medium size shirt and 30-inch waist.

He said: “Everyone at the Hightown Saturday group is so supportive. I knew my weight loss journey would not be easy as I work away all week staying in hotels, where food would be such a temptation, but I knew I had the strength and determination to do this.”

Along with his weight loss, Stewart said he had gained ‘the love of his life’ during his journey.

This came when Julie Hughes, also from Hightown, joined the group in January 2019 for health reasons after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 18 months previously.

The 50-year-old described reaching her target weight loss of four stone, with masses of congratulations from her fellow slimmers, as ‘life changing’

Through her weight loss, Julie has managed to ‘reverse’ her condition and is no longer classed as diabetic.

Julie said: “I had forgotten how much I loved cycling, it is now made even better as Stewart has starting cycling with me as well. If we are not out cycling then we are out walking!”
