TRADERS at this year’s Wrexham Christmas Village event were hoping for another monumental success.

Now in its second year, the three-day event was visited by over 27,000 people last year and it was hoped more would join in with the festivities this year.

The event, which drew a close to the town’s festivities, was open on Llwyn Isaf from Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15, in a bid to get residents in the festive spirit.

One eager visitor of the event, Craig Jones, 44, from Wrexham, said: “It’s nice to see Wrexham busy again. I came to the Christmas Village event last year and I absolutely loved it - long may it continue I say.”

Another visitor, Jodie Williams, 28, from Wrexham, added: “This is my first time attending. I’ve heard so many positive things about the event when it was held last year, so thought why not come and check it out. I’m loving it so far.”

One excited trader, Sharon Parry, owner of Pupcakes Dog Bakery, said: “It’s our very first year here and we cannot wait.

“We are hopeful for a good turnout despite the weather.

“We hope that visitors love our homemade healthy dog treats which will be an ideal gift just in time for Christmas.”

Another trader at the event, Melanie Morgan, owner of The Gourmet Brownie Company, had high expectations for this year’s offering.

She said: “I’m very impressed that Wrexham Council have introduced free parking after 10am within their car parks, as this will hopefully encourage people to come and check what us traders have to offer. It’s also free entry which I’m sure will result in a high volume of visitors attending.”
