CHILDREN of all ages enjoyed an evening of festive fun in a Wrexham street.

The Leader has reported previously on the events organised by the Ladies of Hill Court Group, based in Hightown.

Residents Leanne Chitty, Emma Evans, Sharon Menzies, Tracey Coppack and Amanda Price organised a Christmas street party for the children of Hill Court on Sunday.

The event, which took place from 4pm to 6pm, saw 34 children - aged from babies to teenagers - enjoying a range of festive games and activities, food and a visit from Santa.

Miss Chitty, 36, said: "We had lots of games on, then Santa gave all of the kids presents. Then we gathered outside for the lights switch-on. Everywhere in the street is covered in lights and decorations, it was brilliant.

"The children absolutely loved it. My eight-year-old son Ethan loves living here, he says it's the best street he's ever lived in. "This year we sold tickets at £2.50 per child, which helped us to get the presents and the food, and we had a lot of decorations from last year but we got even more - it gets bigger every year.

"More and more parents get involved every year as well - as well as children. "The five of us from the Hill Court Ladies Group have always done stuff like this because they kids can come together and play in the summer.

"It's good for the adults as well though - I'm a single mum and it is great to get together with the other parents."

Miss Chitty said such events are important for the children to experience community spirit, as well as meeting new friends.

She added: "They look forward to every party we do."

The group is now organising a party for New Year's Eve.
