THE stars of this year’s Christmas pantomime in Wrexham have got its decade run off to a festive feast of fun and laughter for audiences.

Love Island contestant Niall Aslam is currently starring as the Genie in Aladdin at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllannerchrugog, near Wrexham, which started its run on Saturday.

This year’s pantomime at the Stiwt is once again being produced by Liverpool-based LHK Productions, which is celebrating a decade of pantomimes at the historic Wrexham theatre.

Since the first curtain went up in 2009, Lee Kelly, Managing Director of LHK Productions, has brought many a famous face into the theatre including former Wales rugby captain, Gareth Thomas; Welsh tenor, Wynne Evans of the popular insurance adverts and many more.

Lee says the first weekend of the run got off to a flying start.

He said: “I’m so proud that in our decade year, we’re bringing the theatre its best pantomime yet.

“Our first few shows have gone down tremendously with our audiences, we’ve had lots of positive feedback from those who’ve watched our first couple of shows of the run.

“Production value is the best it’s ever been this year, with an actual flying carpet and of course, some really stunning costumes.

“I am really happy with how we have managed to inject even more fun into this year’s production.

“So far, our audiences are enjoying our new twists on pantomime traditions such as ‘He’s behind you’ and ‘Oh yes you ares’.”

The cast will also be doing a number of other performances and appearances throughout the month, including a short performance of some of the scenes from the show at Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s children’s ward this week.

Aladdin runs until Tuesday, December 31 at the Stiwt.
