THE team behind a popular North Wales annual event is celebrating after scooping a top award.
Wrexham’s international showcase festival, FOCUS Wales, has been named the winner of the 'Best Festival for Emerging Talent' at the UK Festival Awards.
The awards event was held at the Troxy Theatre in London earlier this month.
FOCUS Wales was up against some big names on the shortlist for the award, including the likes of Cambridge Folk Festival and Liverpool Sound City.
Festival booker Andy Jones said: “It’s really nice to be recognised at a UK level for the work we do here in Wales.
"It’s been a huge team effort over the last nine years, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 10th edition in May.”
2020 will mark the 10th edition of the FOCUS Wales international showcase festival in Wrexham, which is also shortlisted for a European Festival Award.
The festival will see more than 250 acts from Wales and around the world descend upon Wrexham from May 7 to 9.
FOCUS Wales has already revealed a selection of the acts who will be playing the 2020 festival, including the Grammy nomianted Altın Gün, Gruff Rhys, Flamingods, Stealing Sheep, Catrin Finch and Sekou Keita, The Breath, Chinatown Slalom, and JOHN among many others.
