THE team behind a popular North Wales annual event is celebrating after scooping a top award.

Wrexham’s international showcase festival, FOCUS Wales, has been named the winner of the 'Best Festival for Emerging Talent' at the UK Festival Awards.

The awards event was held at the Troxy Theatre in London earlier this month.

FOCUS Wales was up against some big names on the shortlist for the award, including the likes of Cambridge Folk Festival and Liverpool Sound City.

Festival booker Andy Jones said: “It’s really nice to be recognised at a UK level for the work we do here in Wales.

"It’s been a huge team effort over the last nine years, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 10th edition in May.”

The festival will see more than 250 acts from Wales and around the world descend upon Wrexham from May 7 to 9.
