RESIDENTS in Chirk are being encouraged to find out how they can join a new community support group.

Nightingale House Hospice is looking for members of the public who would like to help others whilst raising money for the hospice, having fun and increasing their social circle in 2020.

Those interested are invited to join representatives from the hospice for mince pies and mulled wine at Caffi Wylfa in Castle Road, Chirk, on November 28 from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Attendees will be able to find out how they can get involved and make a difference at this special informal evening.

Participants will be supported every step of the way by the community engagement team from Nightingale House who will guide and advise them as you get up and running, and support them going forward.

Nightingale House started out as a provision for general palliative care and is now delivering unique outpatient services for specialist palliative care and in-patient services, covering a population of 391,000 people and a catchment area covering Wrexham, Denbighshire, Flintshire, as well as parts of Shropshire and Gwynedd.

The facility, on Chester Road, costs £3,140,383 per year to run, with 80 per cent of money coming from donations. That means without the kindness and generosity of the communities Nightingale House would not exist.

Community engagement officer Susan Williams said: “Our community support groups have a real passion and commitment towards the hospice by coming up with a variety of fundraising events throughout the year from afternoon teas to fashion shows.

“Chirk is a vibrant community with a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the hospice and we hope that we can welcome residents to come and find out more about the new community group at this festive open evening.

"We are grateful to the team at Caffi Wylfa and their manager Chris Davies for supporting us with a number of initiatives recently, including their signature Amaretto and Cherry Scone, with ten per cent of the proceeds going to the hospice and a very successful Donate Don’t Dump day.”
