RESIDENTS across Wrexham are being reminded that garden waste collections are monthly during the winter period of December, January and February.

Wrexham Council has said reducing garden waste collections in these months was brought in last year as the demand for them drops sharply.

It also allows the council to free up staff to help deal with any issues caused by the winter, such as gritting routes or general maintenance.

A council spokesman said: "You can keep an eye on when to put your garden waste bins out during the winter months by signing up for our MyUpdate alerts.

"You’ll get an email alert the day before they’re due to be collected to remind you. If you already receive MyUpdate alerts, there’s no need for you to change anything.

"You can also view information about your bin collections on My Account.

"It’s very easy to register and then you just need to click services, waste and recycling, check your bin day.

"There will be some changes to your bin/recycling collection dates over Christmas, which you can stay up to date with on My Account or through MyUpdate alerts, but we’ll bring you information about the changes on our news blog in the coming weeks too."
