A DEESIDE pub has rallied together to raise funds for a local cause as part of its summer initiative.

Staff and customers at The Red Hall raised £1,125 for Deeside Community Hospital as part of Craft Union Pub Company’s ‘Stomping into Summer’ charity fundraising initiative.

Joanne Powell, operator of The Red Hall Hotel, was one of hundreds of publicans across the country to get involved with the campaign and was determined to help raise funds for the local hospital.

The hospital is the main emergency centre in the area providing a number of vital services for the local community.

The pub organised a 10k walk from the nearby town of Connah’s Quay to Neston, Cheshire for Deeside Community Hospital. Customers were able to offer donations via charity collection boxes located within the pub.

Joanne Powell, operator at The Red Hall Hotel, said: "We are delighted to have raised over £1k for Deeside Community Hospital.

"Being part of Craft Union, everything we do is centred around the community and giving something back to the people who deserve it most.

"It has been particularly touching to see so many of our regulars and their families get involved with the ‘Stomping into Summer’ walk after benefitting from the hospital and its services over the years.

"Looking ahead, we’re planning to organise more fundraising initiatives for the hospital and we’re excited to hear what new ideas our regulars might have."

The donations will go towards new equipment at the hospital, rejuvenating the hospital gardens, and providing a variety of presents and hairdressing appointments for patients.

Rebecca Hawkins, Area Manager, Craft Union Pub Company added: "We are extremely grateful to The Red Hall Hotel and the local community in Deeside who have kindly united to raise money for patients and staff at Deeside Community Hospital.

"It’s fantastic to see one of our pubs continuing to support this vital local service with such a fun activity that brings the whole community together.

"Joanne is a brilliant individual with a big heart and we cannot thank her and the community enough for their generosity."

The Stomping Into Summer campaign initially launched in the South East last year.

Over 100 pubs have participated, raising thousands of pounds for many local charities and causes across the UK. The campaign will continue into the winter season with ‘Stomping Into Christmas’ to encourage a festive spirit amongst local communities.
