NEWTOWN is to host an exclusive production from Rebel Alliance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol live on High Street for free.

On Saturday, November 30, Newtown will host a fantastic open theatre performance from the local community theatre group Rebel Alliance. Working together with Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and a host of volunteers to bring a different spin to the Christmas lights switch on Event.

From midday that Saturday, High Street will be closed to begin construction of the show. The town council would like to ask businesses to consider deliveries scheduled for this day and ensure arrangements are in place to avoid High Street after 12pm. The road will re-open following the event at approximately midnight.

There will be a vast array of community group stalls in Bear Lanes shopping centre from 5.30pm, come and support some brilliant local causes and get involved in the festive cheer.

We have many schools and youth groups involved in the show which promises to be a spectacular show and a fantastic start to the Christmas season, so come down and support them and enjoy the show. A Christmas Carol starts at 6pm with the Christmas lights switch on at 7pm.

A Christmas Carol by Rebel Alliance is a family-friendly re-telling of Charles Dickens’ classic story, which follows Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey with the three ghostly spirits who visit him on Christmas Eve. A Christmas Carol instils a powerful message about redemption and the spirit of the holiday season.

The town council is inviting shops and businesses in the town to get in the spirit of Christmas and enter the Christmas window competition with the theme of ‘A Victorian Christmas’ for more information please contact Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on enquiries@newtown.org.uk or 01686 625544.
