A FLINTSHIRE man who admitted punching his mum’s television after an argument has been fined.

Brendan Hugh Hughes, 24, of High Street, Saltney, also damaged a coffee table during the incident but had since replaced the Samsung television and reconciled with his mother.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, told Mold Magistrates Court how police had been called to the home he shares with his mum, Stephanie Gilmartin, at around 3.30pm on August 10. Mr Espie explained how Hughes was found outside the property when officers arrived at the scene and immediately offered his hands to be handcuffed. Hughes later told police how he had punched the television in anger and was arrested.

Melissa Griffiths, defending, said Hughes, who has been diagnosed as having ADHD and paranoid schizophrenia, had shown immediate remorse for what he had done.

Hughes was fined £80, with court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £32.
