A PUB landlady is hoping to launch a new tradition for a Flintshire village as part of her ‘fundraising mission’ for mental health awareness.
Siobhan Rush, from Greenfield, is hoping that the first village Santa Dash through Greenfield Valley will spark a new festive tradition as well as help raise vital funds for a mental health awareness charity that is close to her heart.
She added: “I am running the London Marathon in April so I am doing some fundraising for ‘Mind’ in memory of my father who took his own life 10 years ago. The Santa Dash is part of my fundraising mission.”
Siobhan, who runs The Ship Inn with husband Darren, is also a part of a local park run committee that is looking to get a weekly event started on the same route after Christmas every Saturday morning.
Participants can walk, jog or run and can even bring the family dog along for the festivities as the father Christmas lookalikes take on the 4.2km route through the stunning wooded area of Greenfield Valley Heritage Park on December 21.
Santa suits and a medal are included with festive refreshments at the end and the great feeling of taking part in an event that is raising funds for ‘Mind’ the mental health awareness charity.
Suits can be collected from 9am at the start line of the race, which is located next to Tesco Holywell at the bridge at the top of the valley path, before the race starts at 10am.
Tickets are now on sale now through Eventbrite at www.eventbrite.com/e/greenfield-valley-santa-dash-tickets-82387179271.
