Normal service resumed for Bangor 1876 in Llanystumdwy rout

The Gwynedd League side returned to winning ways after two straight defeats against higher division opposition to book their place in the Bob Owen Memorial Shield’s second round with ease.

Mel Jones’ side wasted no time in making an impact when Jamie Petrie put them ahead after just four minutes, and they doubled their tally soon after when Dylan Summers-Jones finished off a fine team move with 11 on the clock.

The home side notched a third on 19 minutes through the outstanding Dylan Williams, with Summers-Jones and Les Davies also converting chances during the remainder of the first period to give 1876 an unassailable lead at the break.

This same pattern of play continued throughout the second half in favour of the home side, who had Shaun Lock and Petrie both hit the target within seven minutes of the restart.

Their attacking prowess brought further reward on the hour mark when experienced defender Michael Johnston netted a rare goal much to the delight of the home faithful, and Summers-Jones despatched another chance on 64 to secure his hat-trick.

There was no let-up from the hosts midway through the half that resulted in Cain Williams and Luke Steele both finishing well on 70 and 77 minutes respectively, and powerful striker Davies also found the net to secure his brace with 78 on the clock.

It proved to be another profitable afternoon at the office for Petrie, who saved the best for last with an outstanding strike a minute from time to seal his hat trick and complete the rout for the ambitious fan-owned club.

Next in the firing line for 1876 are Glantraeth on Saturday in an away fixture, before Jones’ men conclude November with a NWCFA Cup encounter at home to Llanfairfechan Town.
