BUSINESSES and schools across Wrexham celebrated Children in Need.

The country came together on Friday (November 15) to raise money for the BBC charity.

Schools and businesses across Wrexham encouraged pupils and staff to get involved, be it by coming to school in their pyjamas or having their head shaved.

Pudsey Bear visited Asda Wrexham as part of the appeal, to the joy of staff and customers alike.

Mary Williams, community champion at Asda Wrexham, said: “We have had Pudsey Bear in store today (Friday) and we’ve been selling Children in Need merchandise as well as having a tombola.

“The customers have loved it – especially the young ones.”

Elsewhere, schools raised money for the appeal in a variety of ways - with Gwersyllt Primary School raising £204 for Children in Need through a non-school uniform day.

Ysgol Bodhyfryd pupils were one of many at Wrexham schools to don pyjamas for the day, as were St Mary's Catholic Primary School where they raised £536 following its pyjama day.

John Owen, supervisor at Atalian Servest in Wrexham, had grown his hair prior to getting it all shaved off for Children in Need.

Llangollen's Old Vicarage Care Home's staff and residents spent the day in onesies in aid of the appeal.

Last year, the Children in Need appeal amassed a brilliant £58million for disadvantaged children, at home and abroad.
