A FLINTSHIRE store is up for sale for just under £300,000.

Specialist business property adviser Christie and Co has brought to the market Central Stores - a convenience store, butcher, and Post Office in Caerwys.

The company has said the long-standing business, which is situated on Water Street just off the town square, is relied upon by the local community for groceries as well as fresh meat and local Post Office services, and as such has become an important part of life in the town.

Above the store there is a spacious, self-contained two bedroom apartment which is currently tenanted but could be utilised as owner’s accommodation if required by potential purchasers.

The business had been purchased by entrepreneur George Gallagher in 2018 in order to ensure that vital services remained in Caerwys and to maintain the community spirit that is so strong within the town.

With the butchers, Post Office and new grocery store open and thriving, he is now seeking a sale in order to focus on his primary business interests in the medical devices industry.

Mr Gallagher said: “We looked into the opportunity in 2018 as both an investment and with regard to how this may benefit Caerwys.

"We wanted to make sure the business was kept local to protect the community spirit that is so strong here.

"Now that the shop is secure, I need to focus on the day job - a new device that we hope will save lives through correctly identifying if feeding tubes are placed in the stomach.”

Ashley Cobban, business agent at Christie and Co, is handling the sale.

He said: “Caerwys is an idyllic town and Central Stores is a vibrant retail business with trade that is increasing week on week.

"There is still further potential for an incoming operator to drive revenue by extending the limited opening hours, and the extensive development taking place in the local area is likely to increase the store’s customer base.”

Central Stores is offered for sale on a freehold basis, with an asking price of £299,950.
