CHILDREN in Llangollen entered an annual arts competition to have their work displayed at a local museum.
Over 240 entries were submitted into the competition, which will see artwork on display at the Llangollen Museum.
A spokesman for the event said: "Many thanks to everyone, and especially the local schools Ysgol Y Gwernant and Ysgol Bryn Collen, who entered this year’s Art Competition.
"The organisers at the Museum are delighted with the wonderful quality and number of entries this year.
"We have had 241 entries, all of which are now displayed in the Museum Art Gallery.
"This competition has been running annually for about 5 years, but this year’s theme, to depict a song or piece of music, has inspired many interesting pieces of art work, ranging from Incy Wincy Spider and Baby Shark to Shotgun, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Autumn Leaves.
"The idea of choice of song/music to use and the ingenuity in their depiction was quite splendid."
Winners were announced and prizes awarded at the official launch evening by Cllr Sheena Grindley, who along with Cllr Bob Lube and local artist Dory, had taken on the difficult task of choosing winners.
Each person who has viewed the exhibition finds a picture, which particularly appeals to them.
The competition spokesman added: "In fact every single entry, especially those from the children, has its own special attraction.
"Also thanks must be given to the local businesses, who added their support by offering refreshments and some of the prizes.
"We are now trying to think of an exciting challenge for next year’s competition, but in the meantime we invite you to come to the museum to view, not only the exhibition this month, but ongoing exhibitions of work by local artists in the Gallery at the Museum.
"Exhibitions change every month and we are proud to be able to offer the opportunity for local artists to display their work."
