TICKETS are now on sale for a hospice's ever-popular festive event.

Nightingale House Hospice's Christmas concert will feature 2019 Cardiff Singer of the World finalist Angharad Lyddon and aims to raise much needed funds for the hospice supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

The mezzo-soprano, from Wrexham, will be joined by Rhos Male Voice Choir and the Wrexham Salvation Army Band for the annual Christmas celebration at St Giles Parish Church on Saturday, December 7 at 7.30pm.

The Rhos Ladies Community Group will be volunteering on the evening organising the raffle and selling Christmas cards.

Angharad Lyddon said: "My connection to Nightingale House began with my Mum, Alison.

"She has been a fundraiser and volunteer for the charity over the years and has a friend who has benefitted from the wonderful hospice care and after care they provide, which is so important for friends and family.

"It’s a pleasure for me to perform in this concert and do my part to help raise funds for this wonderful organisation."

James Llewelyn Jones, Conductor of Rhos Male Voice Choir, said: “Rhos Male Voice Choir is proud to be taking part in this exciting concert, which is firmly regarded as a musical highlight of the Christmas season in Wrexham.

“This year marks the 10th year the choir have supported the Hospice at this wonderful event – and this year’s concert will be one of the finest as we’re being supported by local operatic sensation, Angharad Lyddon.

"The work that this charity does touches every single one of us, whether it’s a friend, a family member or indeed personally.

"Nightingale House Hospice fully deserves our ongoing support, awareness and celebration of its’ commitment and dedication to helping, not just those needing their care, but also the families of those suffering. A concert not to be missed.”

Chris Baker, musical director of the Wrexham Salvation Army Band, said: “Wrexham Salvation Army Band is once again privileged to take part in this established Christmas Carol Concert.

"The many positive comments received from previous years, make this a worthwhile and enjoyable event, which benefits not only those who attend, but all who are associated with the love and care provided by Nightingale House.”

Iola Williams, Chair of the Nightingale House Rhos Ladies Community Support Group, said: “This is a wonderful festive event in the magnificent setting of St Giles’ Parish Church for a cause close to our hearts. We hope that this year will be another sell-out concert raising money for our local hospice.”
