SCHOOLS in Flintshire welcomed a television-personality as part of his mission to get children active.

BBC Children in Need Schools Ambassador, Joe Wicks, visited children at Brynford Primary School and St. Ethelwolds VA School as part of his hugely popular 'Schools Tour' programme for BBC Children in Need.

As the charity’s first-ever Schools Ambassador, the visit to Brynford Primary School and St. Ethelwolds VA School was part of his mission to help school children across the nation get together, get active and feel good whilst fundraising for BBC Children in Need.

Mrs Rachel Critchell, Headteacher at Brynford Primary said: “It’s been such a pleasure welcoming Joe Wicks into our school today.

"There has been such a sense of excitement in the run-up to his visit from pupils and staff alike! Here at Brynford Primary we take real pride in getting together and supporting BBC Children in Need, and Joe’s visit today has made us all the more determined to do what we can to raise vital funds for the charity this year.

"On behalf of us all, we want to say a big thank you to Joe and wish him all the best for the remainder of the tour and his Big Morning Move."

During the visit, Joe met and spent time with school children and learnt about the work they are doing to fundraise for the charity, before delivering a High Intensity Interval Training workout for children and teachers.

For children at Brynford Primary School and St. Ethelwolds VA School, it was an 'exciting surprise' as they are just two of 10 schools Joe is visiting as part of his Schools Tour this November.

The Schools Tour will culminate this week with a live workout on Friday November 15 – BBC Children in Need’s 2019 Appeal day.

The ‘Big Morning Move’ workout will be live-streamed to schools across the nation with school children being encouraged and empowered to have fun whilst getting active.

In doing so, they’ll be joining the rest of the nation in getting together and doing something to change the lives of children in need in the UK.

After the visit, Joe Wicks added: “Today has been so much fun – and it’s been absolutely brilliant to see how Brynford Primary School and St. Ethelwolds VA School are getting involved with this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal.

"There was such a buzz throughout the schools, whether it was the kids or the teachers themselves – who were just as keen to get involved.

"Not only did it make the mini workout even more enjoyable, it reminded me just how much I’m looking forward to the Big Morning Move this Friday.

"Don’t forget, if your school hasn’t signed up, there’s still time.

"It’s going to be an amazing start to an amazing day – so let’s all get together and get active to raise as much as we can for BBC Children in Need."
