A SCHIZOPHRENIC man taken to hospital after being caught burgling a Flintshire pharmacy had three plastic Kinder eggs containing tablets inside his backside, a court heard.
Caernarfon crown court was told it had been a “prison kit” for Dean Bannon Roberts, 36, of Whitford Street, Holywell.
Prosecutor Ffion Tomos said he’d been placed in an induced coma at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd because of concerns about him. But hospital staff received a phone call from his grandmother about a Kinder egg.
Roberts was jailed for two years and three months. He admitted two break-ins at Rowlands pharmacies at Holywell in September, shoplifting and illegally possessing prescribed drugs. Miss Tomos said diazepam was among Roberts’s burglary haul.
Judge Niclas Parry said Roberts had an “extremely poor” record although he was vulnerable.
Jemma Gordon, defending, said he wanted diazepam because of ringing in his ears which had become unbearable.
