A CHARITY champion aims to help those less fortunate for a 'fitting tribute' to a Flint teenager who lost his life.

Anne Claire from Rhyl decided to run 21 runs throughout the year in memory of Jordan Giddins from Flint, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer at the age of 18.

This year would have been Jordan's 21st birthday and Anne said she wanted to raise funds for the charity set up in his name - Giddo's Gift.

She told the Leader: "Jordan passed away when he was 18 and my son has recently turned 18 this year, that was my inspiration because I couldn't imagine it.

"I've known his mum Mandy for many years.

"I feel lucky and blessed looking at him and I can't imagine what that family are going through. Jordan would be 21 this year so I decided to do 21 runs for him.

"It's been quite hard fitting them in, I'm a mum to two boys and look after my mum but it's for a good cause.

"I just thought if I could make a difference to someone less fortunate then I should."

Anne is set to run her last two runs on November 16 and 17, finishing at the Conwy County Half.

The Leader:

She added: "It's been a challenging year but it helps to have a purpose to do it. I'm doing something to help someone else.

"It's quite a thing what that family has gone through. Today, I have two healthy boys but you never know what tomorrow will bring.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me. It's a fitting tribute."

The Giddo's Gift charity was set up in memory of Jordan Giddins, known as Giddo, and aims to help other teenagers and young adults going through similar battles.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so via Ann's JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/runforgiddo20192.

Trustee Steph Rowe said the charity has been running for two years and raised over £83,000.

She said: "It is a huge challenge for her to take on and she's worked really hard on all of her runs.

"We appreciate everything she does, like we appreciate everything anything anyone has done for us and we wish her all the best.

"She's just amazing to take on a challenge and complete it in a year, with it being a special year.

"We appreciate everyone's contribution, anything that anyone does for us."
