FIREFIGHTERS have been called to River Lane, Saltney, after a lorry spilled cooking oil over the road.

The crews from Chester and Mollington were called to River Lane at 1.45pm on Thursday after reports that a lorry had shed its load.

Several gallon drums fell on to the road and, as a result about 140 litres of cooking oil, spilled over the road surface.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire & Rescue said: "Firefighters used specialist equipment to soak up the oil and prevent the oil from entering the drains, the also cleared all of the damaged containers from the roadway.
