STAFF from the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre in Wrexham have teamed up the family of a former colleague to complete a charity cycle ride, raising thousands of pounds in her memory.

Lindsey Jones, who worked at the Centre for 30 years, died in 2016 and would have turned 50 this year and in her memory a series of challenges - The Big Fifty - have been set to raise funds and awareness for Nightingale House Hospice.

Completing the challenge was Lindsey’s daughter, Bethan, who joined staff from the Centre to finish the last leg of a journey the equivalent of riding from Land’s End to John O'Groats (968 miles) on a gym bike over the course of 6 weeks, which was done in between working hours.

So far they have raised nearly £3,000, but want to push that total up to £5,000.

Bethan said: “The Big Fifty was created to celebrate my mum, Lindsey’s, fiftieth birthday and to raise money for Nightingale House Hospice.

“The team at ALAC decided to take part in a challenge as part of The Big Fifty. They cycled the distance from Land’s End to John O'Groats and of course I wanted to be involved and loved being a part of it.

“I'm incredibly touched and grateful to know that the team at ALAC miss and love my Mum like I do. They kindly asked me to finish the challenge and get them to John O'Groats, which I did, and it was great.”
