A MAN caught shoplifting while on a suspended sentence and community order has been jailed for 26 weeks.
Gareth Rowley, 38, of Windsor Road, New Broughton, admitted two counts of theft when he appeared before North East Wales Magistrates’ Court.
Heroin addict Rowley slipped out of the Nisa store in Rhos with seven packets of bacon worth £40 on October 12 this year.
He was apprehended at Tesco in Wrexham with three legs of lamb.
The lamb was recovered.
The court was told that Rowley was in breach of a six-month prison sentence which had been suspended for two years.
Emma Simoes, defending, said he was engaging with the probation service and was taking part in drug rehabilitation.
“He has been addicted to heroin for a number of years,” said the solicitor.
But District Judge Gwyn Jones activated the suspended sentence and added a further two weeks for the shoplifting offences.
