FIRST-time boxers and trainers took part in an Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) charity event in front of a packed out crowd.

They had all been training with former World Champion Russ Williams and trainers at his gyms in Abbot Street, Wrexham and on the Square in Caerwys.

Fighting for Cancer Research UK at Brymbo Enterprise Centre after weeks of training, amateur boxers from Wrexham, Flintshire and Chester and further afield put on a stunning show last Saturday, October 26.

Winners on the night were Shannon Bebb, Connor Williams, Matthew Owen, Adam Williams, Sean Nelson, Ian Williams, Jordan Graham, Sean Francis Mike Kinder, Stephen Jones, Stuart Harry

Alex Donaldson a train guard at Chester Station won by a third round round knock-out.

Kim Caldow who lives in Mancot, and is a HR and payroll supervisor, she fought well against a more experienced opponent from Manchester to get a draw.

Other notable fighters were Jason Kendrick Jones a 49 year-old mechanic who was the top fund raiser earning over £1,000 who went the distance and gave a good fight against a more experienced 26 year-old.

Russ said: “This group have raised £6k towards Cancer Research UK making the total from our Wrexham & Caerwys Gyms getting on towards £70,000 since we and the UWCB started the shows here in August 2015.

“The UWCB have now raised nearly £20 million with their shows throughout the UK and are Cancer Research UK’s top fundraiser.”

The beginning of next year boxing, kickboxing and MMA Shows with the UWCB will be running. Anyone interested can get in touch with Russ Williams.
