A FLINTSHIRE woman is appearing on a new television show to promote body confidence.

Alaw Haf, of Mold, will be featuring on the BBC One Wales series 'Beauty Queen and Single', which started on Tuesday, October 22.

The show airs six girls, who have a background in beauty, and will see them strip down to their 'natural beauty' and go on five dates with five different men.

The 22-year-old's episode is set to air on Tuesday, October 29.

She told the Leader: "I was recently single and when I saw it advertised I do modelling and I was intrigued more than anything so thought I'd give it a go.

"I'm sick of dating apps like Tinder so thought I'd try something a bit different.

The Leader:

"I saw it advertised on Facebook that they were looking for pageant girls from North Wales and no-one looks for girls from North Wales so I thought why not.

"The next day they asked me to come to Cardiff for an audition and I got the job.

"It's a positive message saying you don't need make up, girls should be comfortable in their own skin.

"I was nervous, you always want to wear a bit of make up so it was overwhelming a bit."

The show will feature her reaction to each of the dates.

She told the Leader that she hopes to empower girls and spread the message to love yourself for who you are.

She added: "I thought it would give me more confidence without make up because i wear it all the time.

"It's taught me to love myself, we should love ourselves for who we are. This is you, this is your face, you body so accept it.

"On social media they show you unrealistic looks but never tell you the procedures and money the celebrity has spent on that look.

"There's so much pressure on girls, we should be happy with what we look like."

Alaw's episode will air on October 29 at 10.35pm. Behind the scene action can be found on her Instagram page via Instagram handle alawpx.
