ATHLETICS enthusiasts will flock to Mold over the weekend to take part in a popular annual running event.

The Flintshire 10k and 5k will take place in Mold on Sunday (October 20).

Starting and finishing at the town's leisure centre, the course has been described by organisers as "undulating but quick."

The 5k will start at 9.30am while the 10k will begin at 10.30am.

Entrants in the 5k must be aged at least 13 on the day, while those taking part in the 10k must be at least 15.

There will also be a 1k fun run on the day, starting at 9am. Any children aged nine and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Motorists are also being advised that there will be some road closures in place while the event goes on.

These will be in force from 8.30am to 12.30pm in Wrexham Road at Ffordd Nercwys to Gas Lane/Brook Street in this direction only and Ruthin Road at The Park to Upper Bryn Coch in this direction only.

Organisers have said residential access will be maintained when safe and clear.

All other roads of the route remain open to traffic.
