A burglar who lived in a caravan while targeting homes in Kinmel Bay has been jailed for 28 months.

Paul McGhee was holed up in the Golden Sands Caravan Park at the time of his offences.

Among the properties he broke into were ones at The Promenade and Kinmel Drive where he stole bikes on two different nights.

Later one of the householders was walking past the caravan park and saw her daughter’s push bike propped up against a caravan.

McGhee was found walking near the other property in Kinmel Drive, but claimed he’d found the stolen bike up the road.

McGhee, 49, of Mull Avenue, Longsight, Greater Manchester pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, one charge of attempted burglary and one of interfering with a motor vehicle, all in June of this year.

Defence barrister Simon Rogers said: “He wishes to apologise through me.”

Judge Niclas Parry told McGhee: “These were repeated, determined offences and you clearly had a market for these goods.

“Because of your record you are subject to a minimum sentence.”
