A NEW Sport Direct store is on its way to Flintshire.

The sports retailer is heading to Flint Retail Park after signing 10 year lease, it has been revealed.

Acting on behalf of Hollins Murray Group (HMG), joint property agents Legat Owen and CSP have signed up Mike Ashley's chain to the retail park.

The sports retailer has taken unit B measuring 8,195 sq ft on a 10-year lease. The park is already home to a plethora of retailers including Home Bargains, Sainsbury’s, Argos and B&M.

Speaking about the letting, James Lutton at Legat Owen said: “We are pleased to see yet another national operator choose Flint Retail Park as the location for their latest store in the region.

“The Park benefits from a high footfall thanks to its location close to Flint town centre and adjacent to the Jade Jones Pavilion where the town’s library and leisure centre are also located. With the deal now completed, plans are now afoot for future expansion.”

Nick Casson, director at HMG added: “Securing Sports Direct on a 10-year lease is a real boost for the scheme and the town as a whole. We believe it will act as a catalyst for the rest of the scheme and we are in discussions with a number of other occupiers for vacant units / asset management initiatives.”

David Hanson, MP for Delyn, said it was a 'major boost' for the town.

He said: "It's great that a massive chain has the confidence to open a store in Flint.

"I'm very hopeful that this will be a major boost for the retail park and the town as a whole."
