THE two-day Mold Food and Drink Festival saw hundreds of people flock to the pop up venue on New Street car park this weekend.

Now it's 14th year, the ever popular event, seems to get bigger and bigger, with the glorious weather on Saturday more like the end of June, rather than September.

With nearly a hundred exhibitors, offering up foods to delight even tastebuds, there was much to saviour from burgers, to halloumi and cakes, cakes and more cakes. As well as sampling the delights of the whole host of stalls, including many of those from the local area, the festival also provided several cookery demonstrations, which this year were led by Coronation actor and award winning cheese maker, Sean Wilson.

The fickle nature of the British weather saw both days of the festival experience polar opposites in terms of conditions, but with many of the exhibitors sharing their wares in the dry and comfort of the festival marquee's.

Family was most definitely the theme for this years festival, with many of the activities geared up to the younger members of the crowd, with face painting, glitter stalls and even cookery demonstrations just for kids, who could enter for free if booking online.

Rachel Wheatley, who has a responsibility for public relations at the festival, said the organisers were absolutely delighted with the turn out, with more people than expected walking through the doors on Saturday.

She said: "We've made a couple of changes this year and tried to put more emphasis on it being a more family friendly event.

"Obviously the weather always helps, and the warm sunshine on Saturday, certainly helped, with so many people coming out to enjoy everything we have on offer."

The festival had a live music arena, which was open later than the marquees, with plenty of drink and live music to entertain families and friends as they gathered around the chairs and tables to catch up, sing, dance and taste some of the best food on offer in the whole of North Wales.
