A WREXHAM farmer is appearing on a BBC show in a bid to find love.

Grace Edwards, 23, is appearing in the second series of BBC2's Love in the Countryside - the first episode of which started on Tuesday, September 18.

The programme follows her bid to find the solution to the loneliness of rural farm life.

Grace lives on a 380 acre dairy farm in the Bronington area of Wrexham and works seven days a week.

She says she has the best job in the world, but admits the farming lifestyle can become a lonely one.

Grace said: "It's a very lonely career. Yes I have my family but they won’t be here forever.

"I see my friends at young farmers or at local livestock markets but that daily interactions with people are limited.

"You do feel like you’re becoming a spinster who talks to cows!", she joked.

Grace explained how appearing on the show came about, adding: "There was an advert on Facebook asking for single farmers who were interested in meeting someone - and I fit the bill.

"I was hoping I would show off farming in the best light. As you probably guessed I’m not your typical farmer - wrong gender and the wrong side of 60.

"I hoped that it would attract guys that have a genuine interest in country living."

The show follows her as she attempts to whittle down potential suitors.

Grace explained: "They published a video of me and my life and asked guys to write in. From the letters I chose six guys for speed dates and three to then come back to my farm.

"Whilst staying we each have one on one dates and see if there’s a ‘spark’. After that I can decided to see one of them again or none at all - obviously I can’t give you any spoilers!"

Asked about her dream man, Grace said she is looking for a caring person and someone who shows a genuine interest in her.

She added: "I'm looking for someone who isn’t going to be offended that I spend most of my time outside. I am a big character most would say eccentric and need someone who could keep up with my high energy. But mostly a family oriented person - respectful and thoughtful."

Love in the Countryside is presented by Sara Cox and appears on BBC 2 at 9pm on Tuesdays
