A COMMUNITY transport scheme in Llangollen is in need of more volunteer drivers.
The Llangollen Rotary Club has been operating a Dial-a-Ride service for senior members of the community, with those using it enjoying the benefit of door to door transport and the freedom and convenience that this valuable service provides.
The scheme, which is a joint venture between the Rotary Club and Denbighshire County Council, can also take both manual and powered wheelchairs, but is only available to those who are members of the service. There is a small annual fee to become a member and journey charges do apply, depending on the mileage travelled.
Geoff Bullen, club spokesman said: "The service is becoming every popular and with the ever growing demand, we are in need of more volunteer drivers.
"To put the service in perspective, over the past year Rotarians and Friends of Rotary have contributed 4,160 man hours. This is a significant contribution to the Llangollen community and we all hope that those people, with a few hours to spare, will help us to carry on the good work."
