BANGOR City’s unbeaten start to the JD Cymru North season continued with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Llangefni Town.

The Citizens’ were pushed to the limit by the newly promoted side before eventually coming away with a crucial three points, and Stephen Vaughan Jr’s side welcome Llandudno to the Eurogold Stadium on Saturday aiming to make further gains on current leaders Prestatyn Town.

Vaughan Jr, said: “I’m very pleased to get the three points and keep the momentum going.

“With all the disruption of travel on the A55 and players getting there 15 minutes before kick-off, I thought the lads applied themselves really well.

"I had to change the team just before kick-off which wasn’t ideal and three players turned up 30 minutes into the game, but the lads that came in did really well and have put themselves in contention to start the next game.

“Again, though, we’ve missed too many chances and with the amount of possession we’ve had and chances created we have to score more goals.

“It’s another clean sheet and we move onto next week’s game.”

The crucial moment arrived on 13 minutes when Francesco Serafino extended his excellent form in front of goal by firing past Tyler French to seal three points against a spirited Cefni outfit, who once again showed that they can match the best teams in the second tier on any given day.

Town boss Chris Roberts, said: “I am a bit disappointed we’ve lost to a team that is going for the league with one mistake that has cost us, but I am immensely proud of the performance the lads put in. They all put in a shift, created chances but couldn’t put them away.”

“Their keeper has pulled off two great saves and they didn’t open us up that much and didn’t cause us many problems, the lads played really well and they can be proud.”

Cefni face another stern test of their credentials this weekend when they make the daunting trip to title-chasing Flint Town United on Saturday (2.30pm).
