A POWER cut in Holywell is affecting the town's high street, with engineers working to repair the fault.

Repairs are underway but are said to be taking longer than expected because of an underground cable network fault.

A spokesman for Scottish Power said: "There is a power cut in the CH8 postcode area of Holywell, affecting properties in High Street and surrounding area. We did not know in advance there would be a power cut, and became aware of this at 8.29AM.

"Repairs are taking longer than expected because of a fault on the underground cable network and our team are now working to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 3pm.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Flintshire County Council have posted on social media that the outage has caused them to close the branch of the Connects building in the town's high street.

A spokesman said: "Flintshire Connects Holywell office has had to be closed for the rest of today due to a power outage in the area. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The post says that people wanting to use the services at the building will need to head to another branch in either Buckley, Connah's Quay, Flint or Mold.
