A FUNDRAISING concert is to be held to celebrate a special landmark for a Flintshire charity shop.

Buckley town centre's Tenovus Cancer Care shop is celebrating 30 years in the town next month, To mark the occasion, a special evening of music is to be held at Theatr Clwyd on October 17.

As well as performances by the North Wales Opera Studio Company and Tenovus Choir, those attending will also be treated to performances by Elfed High School musicians.

Grenville Millington, former Chester FC goalkeeper, is the assistant manager at the town centre shop.

He said: "It is fantastic - the public of Buckley donate items, they come in and buy three books and then they bring them back and re-donate them to buy more.

"The shop is run on donations and the public have been extremely generous over the last 30 years. All that money has gone towards cancer research.

"We have also been supported by Morrisons and Tesco."

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £10 and are available from the Tenovus Cancer Care shop in Buckley Town Centre or from Theatr Clwyd's box office.
