READERS have had their say on the success of a popular annual food event.

Wrexham Food Festival took place over the weekend and took place over the large Llwyn Isaf field outside Wrexham Council’s Guildhall building.

There were more than 80 stalls across the weekend with something for everybody – from sweet treats and savoury delights to various varieties of gin and even a stall with dogs in mind.

Readers took to the Leader's Facebook page to share their feedback about the event.

Lindsay Jane said: "We went again this year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

"It’s a lovely event, food and drink to sample and then to buy at fair prices and bits to do for the kids, plus live music.

"What’s not to love? Hope it comes back next year, so nice to see Wrexham buzzing."

Dot Barker said: "Went Saturday for first time - loved it and will be back next year."

Debbie Eccles posted: "It was brilliant," while Juliet Robinson said: "It was an excellent afternoon out."

Aimee Colley added: "We had a fab weekend."

The event was officially opened by local Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths. Welsh Government Minister for environment, energy and rural affairs.

She told the Leader: “Alex, Sam and the whole committee have done a brilliant job setting this up and I hope it is a really successful two days.

"As the Minister with responsibility in the Welsh Government for promoting Welsh food and drink, it’s great to be here in my hometown.

“There are so many local producers, not just from Wrexham but North East Wales. It is also good to see companies from right across Wales here too."
