A FREE first aid lesson for people with additional needs and their carers is to take place in Flintshire.
The session - organised by St John Cymru Mold and Deeside - will take next Wednesday (September 11) at its base on Fairfield Road in Queensferry.
It will run from 6pm to 8pm and will teach people how to manage a medical emergency, to perform CPR, treating an unresponsive casualty, what to do if someone is choking and how to treat severe bleeding.
Figures from St John Cymru state that just one in five people know what to do in an emergency, and over two thirds of people in Wales lack the confidence to help someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.
A spokesman said: "We need your help to change this by learning first aid and becoming a potential lifesaver. That's why each September we offer local communities across Wales the opportunity to join one of our free two hour training sessions to learn simple techniques which could help to save someone’s life.
"Our first aid awareness sessions give people the knowledge and confidence to deal with an emergency situation. The session covers the following scenarios:
"We believe no one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t receive it and that first aid should be available for everyone whenever and wherever they need it.
"Empower yourself and your local community by sparing just two hours to learn lifesaving first aid skills this September."
