AN UPCOMING Victorian themed afternoon tea party will take people back in time to help raise money for a national charity.

The tea party is set to be held in an indoor barn at Bryn Ffyon Farm on Cefn Eurgain Lane in Rhosesmor, Mold, on Saturday (September 7) with guests being encouraged to attend in Victorian fancy dress.

Flintshire resident, Mrs Shirley Salisbury, is organising the event alongside Mrs Jan Dacombe from West Kirkby whom she met through a church movement.

Speaking to the Leader, Mrs Salisbury said: “The Compassionate Friends is celebrating their fiftieth anniversary of being a charity, and Jan (Dacombe) wanted to do something special.

“Unfortunately, Jan lost a child and not many people know about the work that The Compassionate Friends do for people who go through that kind of trauma.

“At the tea party, people will be able to speak with each other and that will be good for everybody.”

The Victorian tea party will last for around three hours after commencing at 2.00pm, although the wearing of fancy-dress costumes is entirely optional.

Tickets to the tea party will cost £5 at the door, and that will include access to hot drinks, refreshments, sandwiches and cake.

All proceeds from the event will go to The Compassionate Friends UK charity, a support group formed by and for parents who have deceased children of any age.
