CONCERNS have been raised over an 'eye-sore' building in Flint.

Resident Lee Blackwell said he objected to the building being built at the back of his home on Earl Street, which he believes will be retail store Home Bargains.

He told the Leader: "I objected to the planning application when it went in.

"It's getting ridiculous in this street, they are building flats down the road, but no consideration has been made for residents or motorists.

"This thing is massive.

"People are fighting for parking spaces because there's just no room. The residents I've spoken to are not very happy about it.

"It's like the road has turned into a motorway at times, people are in a rush and in my opinion are going too fast.

"I think we put up with a lot on this street."

Mr Blackwell said the view from his patio has been ruined and not only affects the light coming into his home in the evenings, but is also placed too close to nearby housing.

He added: "The building is an eye sore, there's no question about it

"There are loads of empty units around Flint, yet they are building more, it doesn't make sense.

"I'm never going to sell my house for what it's worth because of what's behind it.

"It's time someone gave us something back, it feels like we are being ignored.

"It's been a building site for the past three years. Nothing seems to be improving."

Mr Blackwell is urging other residents who are not happy about it to contact local MP, David Hanson.

The Delyn MP said he has been contacted by local residents who have raised their concerns.

He told the Leader: "I’ve been contacted by residents and have raised the concerns with Flintshire County Council and the developer.

"There is considerable impact during construction on the residents and I’ve asked both to look at this - the planning application has been agreed by the Council but there are issues of construction mess that need to be addressed."

Flintshire council has been approached for a comment.
