PRESTATYN Sports are still searching for their first point of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One season after a 5-1 defeat at Llandudno Albion.

Sion Williams and John Hargreaves’ side were no match for the promotion candidates to leave them still sitting on the bottom of the early third-tier standings, and Sports are next in league action on September 21 when they make a tricky looking trip to Llanrug United.

A promising start from the visitors saw them restricted their opponents during the opening exchanges, but they were undone on 22 minutes when Dan Evans produced a moment of magic to break the deadlock.

Credit to the away side, they bounced back almost instantly and levelled the contest on 25 minutes through an impressive finish from Dion Donnelly.

This joy proved to be short-lived as the home side restored their slender cushion on 39 minutes when Evans pounced again for his second of the afternoon, and prolific forward Peter Jones was on hand to despatch another opportunity to extend their lead with 41 on the clock.

There was still time for further drama at the end of the first half which arrived in stoppage time as Ricky Jones’ powerful effort gave Albion a comfortable three-goal advantage at the half-time whistle.

The second period saw Sports hold firm in the face of some unrelenting pressure that lasted for the majority of the half, but their rear-guard finally wilted late on when Jones capitalised on some space to steer in his brace and round off the scoring.
