WREXHAM residents will be able to get tips on saving money on their energy bills at an event next week.

NEWCIS, a carer support charity, is hosting the event to be run by environmental charity Groundwork North Wales.

The event - to run on September 5 between 10am and 12pm at NEWCIS Wrexham - will see a trained advisor assisting and advising people in switching energy providers, accessing discounts, reducing water tariffs, fitting small energy efficiency measures and dealing with fuel debt. They can also refer to other agencies for additional support.

The 'Energy Efficiency Project' will shed light on Groundwork's 'Project Leap', which sees eligible residents getting a free home visit from a qualified Home Energy Advisor.

Project LEAP can see the installation of free, simple energy saving measures which can save the average household £30 on their energy bills a year.

Give you day-to-day energy efficiency hints and tips and ensure your heating system is set up to keep you warm and save money, and help check if you are on the cheapest energy tariffs - could save you over £280 a year.

It can also arrange a free telephone advice service to help with benefits, debt and other money problems and refer you for further energy efficiency improvements, such as loft insulation or a new boiler.
