THE Delyn Assembly Member has urged local people in the area to put forward nominations for the next St David’s Awards.

Hannah Blythyn AM hopes that the awards continue to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of Welsh people as they prepare to go into their seventh year.

About the upcoming awards, she said: “Nominations are now open for the St David’s Awards and anyone can put forward someone they think deserves an award - whether they’re a colleague, friend, neighbour or family member.

“The awards are a chance for us to recognise and celebrate our everyday heroes – the people making a difference at the heart of our communities across Delyn.

“I’d very much like to encourage nominations from this area so our local champions can get the recognition that they deserve.”

There are nine award categories for the 2020 St David’s Awards, with nominations open from now until October 17.

Two new categories will add to the existing Bravery, Culture, Enterprise, Innovation and Technology, Sport, Young Person, and First Minister’s Special Award categories at the future ceremony.

The St David’s Humanitarian Award will recognise either an individual or a group from Wales which has improved the lives of others, either in Wales or internationally.

The new Community Spirit Award, meanwhile, will honour those people who have worked to improve their local community, with it being designed to reward unselfish actions, which have served the public or improved the lives of others.

Nominations can be made by visiting
