BANGOR City picked up their first win of the JD Cymru North season with a 3-1 home success over Buckley Town.

The home side marked their return to the EuroGold Stadium with a positive start that saw them open the scoring on 17 minutes when a fine period of pressure presented a chance to Azizou Zoumbare, who made no mistake from close range to get Stephen Vaughan Jr’s men off to a flyer.

Credit to the visitors, who managed to pick themselves up following the early setback and they found a route back into the contest on the half hour mark when Pat Hinchcliffe, a summer signing from Denbigh Town, wrong footed Citizens' 'keeper Gabriele Brino at his near post with a deft finish to restore parity to the score-line.

City started the second half on the front foot and got their noses in front yet again a minutes after the restart, with Francesco Serafino producing a superb effort for his first competitive goal for the club on 49 minutes.

Zoumbare was a significant threat throughout the game and his exceptional display brought further reward on 54 minutes when he despatched yet another opportunity to double his tally and extend the home side's advantage.

Town showed their resilience in the face of some significant pressure following the goal, weathering the storm as City looked to further add to their tally with some stylish attacking play.

Although this was something the hosts were unable to accomplish, they saw out the closing stages of the encounter in comfortable fashion to extend their unbeaten start to secure a valuable three points.

The Citizens’ will look to build on their positive start during their trip to Porthmadog on Saturday before a crunch home clash with Flint Town United on September 10.
