BANGOR 1876 have secured a major sponsorship deal with a newly established property development company.

The newly formed fan-owned club announced a three-year agreement with Watkin Property Ventures, which will see the company invest more than £34,000 throughout the first year of the deal.

This will be used to support costs of using the Treborth facility at Bangor University, in addition to other matters such as insurance, management, affiliations for league and cup competitions and equipment.

Les Pegler, on behalf of CPD Bangor 1876 FC, said: “We are extremely excited about this partnership and the opportunities it presents. We look forward to growing our relationship with Watkin Property Ventures still further in the next three years.”

“This is a ground-breaking moment that ensures CPD Bangor 1876 FC will be at the very heart of Bangor and the local community. We have a firm commitment as a club to support the area, its businesses and people, as well as market Bangor to a wider audience.

“The partnership with WPV will now allow us to push on further and develop the club to the highest level possible.”

WPV is a newly established company set up in Bangor by Mark Watkin Jones, former CEO of Watkin Jones PLC.

He recently stepped down from that role, three years after leading the Watkin Jones company to a successful flotation on the London Stock Exchange.

Mr Watkin Jones, added: “We are delighted to be able to offer support to CPD Bangor 1876 FC and we felt that by committing to an initial three year period of commitment that it would give the new club a firm financial foundation in which to build its aspirations.

“We have carefully considered how best to do this and have opted for supporting the more back of house activities, leaving the opportunities for the club to gather further support from match day and player sponsorships, and other branding opportunities such as training kits.”

“Our support in years two and three is also conditional on the club being run on at least a break even position in years One and Two. In our opinion, this offers a great incentive to the club to manage its financial affairs effectively. We wish them every success.”
