OFFICERS are continuing to monitor the Village Bakery unit in Wrexham after a major fire.

The fire tore through the building based on Wrexham Industrial Estate on Monday, August 19, and caused ‘severe’ damage to the Village Bakery’s production area and upper floors of an office block.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at 8.41am and remained on the scene for three days while crews assessed the building for possible hot spots.

At the height of the incident, the Leader reported that 10 appliances and three aerial ladder units were at the industrial park on Abenbury Way.

The cause of the fire is still currently unknown, but it is believed to have started in building's production area.
